Haaland Extends Contract with Manchester City Until 2034

Staying with Manchester City for the rest of his career? Erling Haaland has signed a new nine-and-a-half-year contract with the Sky Blues, which would see him remain at the club until nearly 34 years old.

As announced by City on Friday morning, Haaland has signed a new contract with Manchester City until 2034—with improved terms, of course. The Norwegian's previous deal was set to expire at the end of June 2027. According to The Athletic, all release clauses included in his previous contract have been removed. Reports in English media suggest that the record-breaking deal is worth around €310 million, guaranteeing Haaland a base salary of approximately €600,000 per week.

The 24-year-old had frequently been linked with Real Madrid in the past, but those rumors can now be put to rest. Haaland is set to remain a key figure at City for the foreseeable future. The striker has already celebrated two Premier League titles, one FA Cup victory, and a Champions League win with the reigning English champions.

"This is a Very Special Place"

In a club statement, Haaland expressed his gratitude:
"Thanks to Pep Guardiola, his coaching staff, my teammates, and everyone at the club. Over the past two years, they’ve helped me so much and made this a very special place. Now I’m staying at City, no matter what happens."

A Record-Breaking Impact

Since his transfer from Borussia Dortmund for a fixed €75 million in the summer of 2022, Haaland has exceeded even the loftiest expectations. In 126 competitive appearances for City, he has scored an astounding 111 goals.

In his first two Premier League seasons, he won the Golden Boot with 36 and 27 goals, respectively. Even in the current campaign, where City has struggled somewhat, Haaland is second in the Premier League scoring charts with 16 goals despite a temporary dry spell. In total, he has already scored 79 league goals, edging closer to Alan Shearer's long-standing record of 260 goals, once thought unattainable.

City’s Busy Transfer Market

Manchester City, currently sixth in the Premier League after 21 matchdays, remains active in the transfer market. The club is reportedly working on deals for Abdukodir Khusanov (RC Lens), Vitor Reis (Palmeiras, both center-backs), and Omar Marmoush (Eintracht Frankfurt).
