Krösche on Marmoush: "It's possible he could play on Friday"

Eintracht Frankfurt ended the first half of the season with an impressive 4-1 victory, accumulating a solid 33 points

Unsurprisingly, there was plenty of joy at the club on Tuesday—though one topic stood out above the rest.

"It was a very, very good first half of the season," stated Markus Krösche after the decisive win over Freiburg. "We have a very young team, so there are still some fluctuations with individual players. But as a team, we performed very well. Ending the first half of the season with 33 points is a fantastic achievement, and of course, we’re thrilled about it."

Krösche: 'There’s no other situation'

Amid transfer rumors—Manchester City is reportedly interested—Marmoush once again delivered for Frankfurt. When asked if Marmoush’s potential transfer impacted his availability for the game, Krösche responded with a rhetorical question: "He’s an Eintracht Frankfurt player, so why wouldn’t he play?"

Krösche remained tight-lipped about a potential move to Manchester City. "As I’ve said before, there’s interest from a club, but there’s nothing more to say at the moment. The situation hasn’t changed. Whatever the future holds will become clear in the coming days. As long as he’s an Eintracht Frankfurt player and performs well, he’ll play."

Götze: 'Marmoush has played his part'

Mario Götze praised Marmoush: "Omar has played a big part in where we are. Incredible quality, great guy, always professional. We’re glad he’s here—everything else will sort itself out," said the 2014 World Cup winner in an interview with Sky.

Götze dismissed comparisons between Marmoush’s situation and his own transfer history, such as his moves from Dortmund to Bayern in 2013 and back to Dortmund in 2016. "You can’t compare situations. I had one experience; he has another. Different clubs, different environment. It’s very difficult to compare, and I firmly believe everyone should make their own decision."

Will Marmoush play against Dortmund?

Frankfurt will kick off the second half of the season on Friday (20:30 CET, LIVE! on kicker) with a home game against Dortmund, Götze’s former club. Will Marmoush be in the squad?

Krösche maintained his stance: "He’s an Eintracht Frankfurt player, so it’s possible he could play on Friday."
