"Still Hungry": FC Bayern Extends Neuer's Contract Until 2026
Manuel Neuer and FC Bayern Munich are continuing their collaboration. On Monday, both parties announced that they had agreed to extend his contract, which was previously set to expire in the summer of 2025.

FC Bayern Munich continues to trust in Manuel Neuer's qualities. As the record champion announced late Monday afternoon, the nearly 39-year-old goalkeeper is extending his expiring contract at Säbener Straße for another year until 2026.
"Manuel Neuer is the best goalkeeper of his generation and already an icon of FC Bayern. When you talk about the art of goalkeeping today, you talk about Manuel Neuer—and that’s worldwide. He is an absolute role model both on and off the pitch. We are very pleased that this uniquely successful relationship will continue," explained Sports Director Max Eberl.
Neuer: "I'm Still Hungry"
"I have immense fun playing football and I want to continue being a player for FC Bayern. I'm still hungry and I look forward to another year at this special club. We have always had good discussions; it’s a great feeling. It feels good—we still have many shared goals," Neuer added.
Neuer has been part of the record champion's squad since 2011. Initially, after his transfer from Schalke to Säbener Straße, he faced some criticism from certain fan groups. However, he quickly silenced them with his outstanding performances. From the moment of his signing, Neuer was firmly established in the Munich lineup, having played 547 games for FCB to date and, during that time, not only won the German championship eleven times, the DFB-Pokal five times, and the Henkel Cup twice, but also the World Cup with the German national team in 2014.
Recently, Neuer has experienced some inconsistent weeks and months. The 38-year-old did not always display the level of performance that had, at times, made him arguably the best goalkeeper in the world. Instead, his strong displays—such as in the Champions League against PSG—were sometimes interspersed with weaker performances.
“Manuel Neuer has been setting new standards in goalkeeping for over a decade.”

In early December, Neuer saw his first red card of his career after misjudging one of his runs out of the box during a DFB-Pokal match against Bayer 04 Leverkusen (0-1). Additionally, he was sidelined until the turn of the year due to a broken rib.
This is no reason for the Munich club, which recently signed Jonas Urbig as a potential successor, to question Neuer. "Manuel Neuer has been setting new standards in goalkeeping for over a decade. He is our captain, a major personality at FC Bayern, and the team knows that they can always rely on him," clarified Sports Director Christoph Freund. "We are delighted that we will continue to pursue our goals with him next season."
